BRIEFING: EVOLVING THE METAVERSE
Brian J Smyth, Managing Director, Global Innovation & Metvaerse Lead for Comms & Media, Accenture

METAVERSE DEMO: Advocating action: Realizing the full opportunity of the metaverse

  • Why NTT Docomo is aiming at non-telecom services to account for half of revenue in three years, and the role the metaverse will play in its diversification strategy
  • Envisioning a virtual space where engineers in remote locations can come together and use metaverse tools to jointly develop products or test prototypes
  • Reviewing NTT’s existing consumer metaverse service, known as XR World, where users can experience live events via smartphones and PCs
  • How NTT’s vision for the metaverse will take advantage of its photonic-based IOWN (Innovative optical and wireless network), still under development, that is aimed at improving bandwidth by 125 times and delivering latency of 1/200 of a second

METAVERSE DEMO: Leveraging the full potential of the metaverse

  • How Metaverse experiences are poised to impact us significantly in the coming years, from areas such as product interaction, client acquisition, client support and retention
  • Why delivering, securing, and maximising these experiences requires an underlying fabric that can scale up easily and extend seamlessly to public/private cloud as needed
  • Advocating a properly designed and implemented Secure Access Services Edge (SASE) architecture to deliver this platform to unlock new top line possibilities

PANEL DISCUSSION: The age of (R)evolution: the metaverse opportunity for CSPs
Over the past 20 years, the internet has reshaped our world; telcos have played a critical role as enablers, but have not captured most of the value. Executives expect 4.2% of their revenues coming from metaverse in the next 3 years – a value of $1 trillion, offering opportunities for growth across consumer and business services. Communications service providers (CSPs) are at critical control points along the metaverse, giving them a unique position to create and capture value. But we are hearing mixed signals in the market around metaverse  – is it real or hype? How and where should executives start their journey?

In this interactive session, metaverse industry leaders will showcase some of the pioneering work they are leading on metaverse before joining a panel discussion to explore:

  • Can the metaverse and the evolution of the internet unlock the next wave of growth for the comms industry?
  • What are some of the use cases driving consumer adoption in the near term?
  • Could the rise of the metaverse could be the saving grace of wireless operators, giving them a chance to monetise their 5G investments?
  • Where is the CSP’s place in the metaverse ecosystem?
